About Me
I’m Elena, the founder of Amé Bakery, a pastry atelier based in The Hague where I create cakes that are meant to be seen as art—elegant, minimalistic, and intentionally crafted.
My story with pastry began long before I ever thought of it as a career. Growing up, my mom was always baking—cakes, pies, cookies—and I was always nearby, tasting creams from spoons and finishing what was left in the mixing bowls. Those small, ordinary moments are where my love for pastry truly started.
At sixteen, I discovered Pauline Cake and everything changed. I began taking her courses one after another, completely immersed in learning, practicing, and creating. There was always something new in the kitchen each week—and a very happy family enjoying it. As she grew into one of the most recognised pastry chefs, I was growing alongside her, shaping my own skills and style.
Over the years, as my skills evolved, so did my vision. While studying hospitality in the Netherlands, I realised that I didn’t just want to create pastries—I wanted to create something more intentional, more elevated. A space where dessert is not an afterthought, but the central point. A luxury pastry atelier.
Amé Bakery was born from that vision.
My work is centred around cakes with balanced flavours, delicately soaked sponges, and a clean, defined taste. Each creation is approached with precision and restraint, allowing every element to speak clearly. Nothing is excessive, yet nothing is missing.
I believe a cake should never be just a dessert placed at the end of a table. It should be the moment—the centrepiece that draws attention, that invites pause, that becomes part of the memory itself. My cakes are designed to captivate before they are tasted, and to leave a lasting impression long after.
Because pastry, in its most beautiful form, is not just food.
It is art.
